Welp, I bit off more than I could chew with this one. But the clock's ticking--got to knock out the rest of Anvil Flats and then Chapter Five before my time's up in September.

Edit: Why yes, I *do* change the past. And I don't feel one whit of regret about it. Let It Ride: the comic that requires you to save screenshots!

Woah, that expression in panel 7. Haunting stuff. O_O

I'm really glad to see Eric again but he really brings the fire with him when he's back.

Thanks!

Yeah, you can pretty much bet that something will go up in flames when he's around.

The first time I read this, I didn't recognize the man who held out a helping hand to Eric MacDonald, but that's clearly Captain Happy.

And I looked at this many times without noticing Happy's face in panel 7, witnessing MacDonald getting shot. I always kind of wondered why the shooter just left MacDonald without finishing him off... I wonder if the shooter got skewered by one of Happy's blades. Just sort of fell on it by accident, a few dozen times.

Thanks! It blows my mind that I could do all this in color in about the same time as one of my nasty four panel traditional media pieces from 2001.

This story is a lot more coherent than I was expecting from Eric. Where's the ranting about sinister alien nymphos?

A moment of lucidity!

But also note that the narration and the imagery don't match.

Does that mean that Eric saying something that seems sane and plausible is his tell that he's lying? That would be awesome, hilarious, and a little bit difficult to pull off.

Eric is smart, knows he's smart, and gets arrogant about his falsehoods as a consequence.

Kinda like me.

Yeah, I'm not that good; I'm barely holding together a "plot" that's been hijacked by Prof's reporter.

Gotta agree with Eric here :/
I figured he works alone but I still cannot see what is his ultimate goal. Or goals.
It is like he is fighting EVERYONE the way he thinks.
However, I still believe that doing similar activities is no better than fighting against them and if I were Ms. Kingsley, I would especially mind the part about everyone having their agendas because Eric definitely has to have one.
As anyone, he is also just a good talker. Possibly drunk.....

As we have been shown, even within the structure of LI, Eric works alone.

Felicia's not drinking the kool-aid, though. :)

Eric saying "I work alone" makes about as much sense as any libertarian argument for smaller government.

Ha, I was going to call Eric out as a liar.

You don't work alone Eric.
Not at all.

When he burns every bridge he crosses, he certainly isn't working well with others.

Yes, I'm trolling you and Prof.

Hrmmm, he certainly HAS burned a lot of bridges in epic ways, hasn't he?

Still though, people seem to be drawn to him.

This is True Charisma. Some call it animal magnetism, others elan vital. It is PART of what I believe makes Eric so dangerous, his ability to pull others in to his schemes, sometimes without their knowledge (until it's too late).

I swear I can justify the hidden mysticism and occult lore in the LIRverse...

Once upon a time there was an operative in an alphabet-soup named organization who tried to turn a mercenary; but in the end it it was the operative who began to question why he was doing what he was doing, why he was eternally "punching down", instead of pulling up. He and the mercenary both changed their ways in the hopes of changing the world.

Well, at least that's how the story goes in my head.
