Sorry, AC, gotta wait 12+ hours for that contingency tree joke.

Anyway, sometimes the devil makes a deal with you.

Tona, Eric has enough C4 to make him hard for a decade. I suggest you get your ass moving & NOW!

Oh heck, here you are struggling to finish your ambitious work and I'm asking for an extra when you're already behind. I'll still be around to appreciate it when you get to the very end, if you still agree the lulz demand it. :)

And I'm not *that* horrible a negotiator and slavedriver, am I? Or are you thinking of another devil?

I'm pretty sure the comment about the devil was lirvilas shifting gears and switching to commentary on the comic. "Anyway" was the clue that he was changing topics.

Tona doesn't know what a devil Maerc is, and she wasn't looking to make a deal with him, but he just reached out to her.

....
Wow, someone else did it to one of my jokes.

Not sure I'd agree with characterizing this exchange as a deal though. More like a reward.

@AC: Let's be real, man--you can easily swing between "insightful commenter" and "OMG ban this annoyance" on the Troll-o-Meter. That said, I happen to enjoy the crackle of your sniper fire.

All she has EVER wanted...

Maerc's current humility seems like something that may or may not stick. At any rate, why do I feel like one of the all time LIRverse Losers has just grabbed the Winners column to ride until the wheels fall off?

EDIT: LOVE the playing card motif popping in here. But what happens when one of the cards is taken out of the deck of life?

This is an inflection point, brah.

This was... not the best dialogue out of Maerc that I've written. Hard to tell if he honestly doesn't know Tona's face or if he's doing his best to play her. Maerc does tend towards the melodramatic, however.

That's not Eric's poker hand... that's Elliot's. So yes, losing a card might not help.

It doubly doesn't help that his highest card (I currently refuse to use the "t" word when referring to the higher card for fear that a tiny-handed demagogue will sue me for copyright infringement and I am not joking) effectively jumped into his opponent's hand...

Maerc, like all good supervillains, is melodramatic. I have had some fun with villain melodrama myself, as will be seen shortly.

Tina's always been at war, even before she went.

You'll probably see more of that in 2-3 years; stick around!

This is an interesting page because of what it calls for and the way Maerc is carrying himself.

Seems really fishy, hoping Chuck doesn't end up blown to smithereens if there is a chance of his making it.

If Maerc is indeed legit hmmm. It'll lead to some really interesting interactions later between Eric and Tona...assuming Maerc doesn't get his head blown off before the end of this.

The full fallout of this page will not be seen for 5-10 years.

Because first I haz to move to OHIO!

(Cue really ominous music.)

Real years and real soon to each of those...

Although I will say something about Tona's fate in the epilogue.
