HOLY CRAP CHUCK. Welp.
You beautiful maniac.

*Not dead unless you see them die is a nice policy this seems to have

I think Chuck's hair is getting more wild, andd Augustus better wheel it out of there.

Hmm...

Chuck is the gorram Ace of Spades... Still, we're dealing with a heck of a lot more than five Aegis guys in a strip club here. He's not going to take out all the remaining Aegis guys on his own... I think...

Speaking of Aces, we need to see more of Tona's arc. I can't shake the feeling she's not done yet.

Still, you have given us some QUALITY violence, in great QUANTITY! :D

Also, it seems to me that Aisel and Chuck are now both gunning for Maerc.

Heh... what's the most awesome likely death for Chuck? Opening bid: Sonja puts him down. Anyone care to raise?

I wonder who will get their plans ruined by him, and who will get their plans supplemented by Chuck while he proceeds?

Seabiz, I will strive to make the next page as eye-blisteringly badass as I can. It will be Chuck at his finest, and if you've been in the forums you'll know what I mean. Boondock Saints and the Matrix come to mind, but there's really only one reference I'll be trying to Woo...

This whole sequence is very well done.

In the "Junk in the Trunk" section we saw that Chuck's playing card is the Ace of Spades, also known as "The Death Card". I wondered if that presaged his death, or if it just meant he would kill a lot of people. Could still turn out to be both.

Now my only question is whether Maerc somehow anticipated that Eric MacDonald would stir into the mix. I'm betting on it now. I think his plan was, not just to wipe out MSV, but also to wipe out Aegis. He convinced Alexander that Aegis would have the upper hand, and figured he wouldn't have to do anything but stand back and watch the plans go spectacularly wrong (with help from MacDonald).

I'm calling the final result: MSV, gone as an organization, a handful of survivors (Grigori and Chuck? Aisel for sure); Aegis, out of business but with Alexander and Cannon still alive to rebuild it someday; Maerc, alive and still up to something with his mysterious hooded people.

I think (hope!) all the other major characters will live on: MacDonald, Sonja, Tona, Chuck. Still expecting twists and turns so I won't even try to predict how they will end up.

I'm kinda hoping that Maerc ends up with some scars from this. I think he'll win but I'd hate to see him walk away with all his plans successful.

I'm also hoping we will finally get some backstory on how Sonja ended up as "Katya" and in charge of MSV.

I'm eagerly awaiting the next comic. I imagine that as soon as I get it, I'll then be eagerly awaiting the one after it.

<<Avatar flagged for abuse of webcam.>>

heh heh

You've got the big picture--there's no way Maerc would have replaced an all-powerful palace guard with yet another all-powerful group. Better to keep those close to the throne weak and divided. However, leading in such a fashion does have rather unpleasant side effects.

Next page is a whole lot of fan service for Seabiscuit.

The reason I'm fond of that avatar is that I took that picture in the 90's on a ten thousand dollar SGI O2 UNIX workstation. PC webcams weren't very common at the time; they were available but they were low-resolution and generally had a poor frame rate.

The photo is in black-and-white because the camera didn't do color. IIRC the camera cost something like $2000 at the time. These days my phone has two cameras built into it that are far better. This picture is a reminder of how far we've come, and also a little bit of a glove thrown down to mark that I've been messing with computers for a while now. I took that photo while testing something at my job, not as a selfie; but I liked how it came out and just never deleted it.

So, I plead special circumstances RE: that flagging thing.

P.S. My hair's not as thick as it used to be, but it's still a good likeness.

@Steve: That's a helluvalot more interesting story behind your avatar than mine. And no judgment on the hair, you'd laugh if you saw what's happened with mine over the years.

I think the best possible avatar a comic artist can have is a self-portrait drawn in his/her own style. If I had any artistic skills I would draw my avatar for sure.

But if you are thinking it's time to update your avatar, and you might consider a suggestion... I would enjoy seeing you draw yourself in Chuck's pose from the last panel, but with a mug of coffee in each hand rather than a pistol.
