Ah... Tona doing work for that particular side of things. I will spare you any given tirade about them...

Still I wonder what Tona will think of what IS going on back at the trailer...

This is an unfortunate contortion on multiple levels.

I too could go on a tirade [thankfully redacted] I hope it comes across that I love my characters, warts and all, Tona included. But her politics are making me very sad...

Well they'll be able to see her coming though they probably won't be looking.

Yeah, Tona's getting thrown into the mix for a really nasty reason that none of you are gonna like.

This relationship is proceeding with surprisingly much respect and consideration, considering the advice Eric got from his dear mother about the possibility of dating Tona way back when. I wonder how much is a change of heart, how much is personal growth, and how much is two-faced deception.

...and how much is pragmatism.

Only the truly evil can turn their backs on their grandchildren.

So you think that nearly everyone is truly evil then? Might be right about that, if so.

I'll presume you're talking about the metaphorical "climate change is gonna kill us all" turn your back on your not-yet-existing grandchildren scenario.

Because if you're talking about straight up abandoning family in need, then it's pretty clear you've had the misfortune of not being from Wisconsin...

For better or worse, family means something where these characters and their author are from. It's a joy and it's a burden and it's why deep down her vicious heart, Tona [redacted] Eric.

I wasn't referencing that, I was mostly commenting on how the words 'good' and 'evil' are too vague and propaganda-debased to do much besides labeling friend and foe. I don't have to turn to broad collective phenomena like global warming, the erosion of human rights, or prejudicial hostility to assert that arbitrary, spherical people are 'evil.' Referencing your standard of failing the duty of care for one's dependents it's easy: People fail to adequately take care of themselves in many, many ways for many, many reasons, and that itself imperils our dependents.
If you accept there may be other concepts which are useful to analyze responsibility besides 'good' and 'evil,' the concepts I would recommend are 'direct responsibility' and 'contributory responsibility.' Those can work much better for identifying and assessing the people who cause a preventable or improvable situation.

It sucks when your mom is late and your immediate thought is that.
....
Cannot blame her. That is what happens when a relationship goes to crap. Or is seemingly crappy for the most part. Because after multiple bad actions and confirmed suspicions, you immediately turn to that instead of "what if something happened to her?" and that is both understandable and sad.

The kid is weirdly interested in that green book so I guess it is "Riddles for Kids" :D :D

I like the last panel, but I'm not going to say why...

Anywho... one of those devices will appear on my comic soon. It's been on the script since about 2010. You have to be so patient when making webcomics...

Maureen's not dead, is she?
:-o

I've gotta say, I like this change in luck for Tona.
I think Eric's mom is going to turn out to be very good for her.

If you've seen my archives, you've seen the prophecy of what Tona is fated to do. The Army, her time in prison, her humiliating poverty--the hammer must fall many times to forge an exceptional blade.

As for her mother Maureen, all I can say is that she's now in a better place... a far better place.

TONAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

She looks really stressed out. ;_;
Trin is cute in that first panel.

I saw further down in your commentary replies that Maureen is in a better place. I'm going to assume positive and say that means Sam took her out to dinner or he fixed the car and they're not dead. >_>

My heard can't deal, man.
