Yeah, I've been waiting to put these two together for pushing a year.

Shame I have to blow them up.

TLDR: Maureen Zehm and Sam Christianos are friggin' soul mates.

Also, congrats on 100 pages at Dyerin's Line!

Damn foreign made vice grips. It won't be the last time they fail while simultaneously alluding to something more. :D

Vice grips are a harsh mistress!

Or maybe they make a harsh mistress.

Or maybe harsh mistresses use vice grips?

Dare I hope? Nah, not getting my hopes up until I see the car bomb explosion. It's not that I don't trust a guy in a nice red suit and all, but my hopes have been dashed too many times before.

Just like a roast fresh from the oven, I'm letting that pinup artwork "rest" so I can look at it with clear eyes... it's a caricature so it can't just be "generic hot woman", it has to actually resemble someone.

RE: Killing characters

At my current rates of exhaustion and scotch consumption, you'll be down one author instead.

I honestly wasn't expecting you to make much progress on that considering how many other projects you have to do that are important, actually. If you have to sacrifice one for the other I'd rather have a complete and creator-satisfactory Winners and Losers than jaw-droppingly amazing art of one of the more underappreciated authors and activists in the English language.

Regarding ill omens of your demise, that's not the main character death I'm hoping for! I appreciate your work as much as any of your other fans I think, but I've gotta say I'd rather have you happy, healthy and non-productive than working yourself to death. I know ars longa, vita brevis is a truism we creators suffer under on pain of failure and irrelevance but there's gotta be a balance.

I seem to remember commenting at one point that it would be a very good or very bad ide to get these two together. Looks like I was right...

Are you seriously doing this to them, lirv? :(

Prof-

Wouldn't that be disgusting if I whacked characters based on relative ship-a-bility?

As much as I wanted to indulge in visual metaphors for this meeting, this struck me as the best way to keep things moving fast. Because I have ~30 pages to wrap this shit up before I leave you all...

DUCK! Battery explosions can be nasty. That's sulfuric acid in there. But they're not that powerful sense there's only so much hydrogen trapped in the top of one.

We'll see how big that explosion is... Saturday, hopefully, because I'm gonna short cycle this week. Who needs a stinkin' buffer?

YOU WOULDN'T.

I mean you might. BUT AHHHHH.

I hope it's really uneventful and no harm befalls Maureen and Sam. >_>

Let them be happy for more than one pageeee.

I really can't tell if you're the sort who would do this. I mean I would do it, but I don't know if you're quite as mean an author as I am.

I'm a discovery writer so I don't know how many pages are going to pass before this is resolved.

I have to move fast. Very fast. I apologize for the whiplash.

This would be a completely accidental and random incident.
I mean... It is just not paying attention and what are the odds?

This page is based off a story that a guy told me one time in Pensacola. He was working on his car and he set down his vice grips on the battery but he didn't latch them securely, so they popped open, shorted the battery, and vaporized. He said the world was silent for a few long moments because he couldn't hear his heartbeat...

They tell some pretty ridiculous stories in Pensacola.
